Supervision With Chris Oxborrow
Hello, I’m Chris. If you’re looking for online supervision, welcome!
I have been providing counselling supervision for over 20 years and currently offer support to therapists practicing in a variety of niches or specialisms.More recently my own lived experience and the evolution of my online, private therapy practice have led to my supervisory provision primarily supporting those working, in private practice or organisations, with a specialism in neurodivergence and advocacy for clients within the ND community.Learn more about me
I am neurodivergent (diagnosed ADHD), having realised this in my 50s during the onset of perimenopause, although the signs have always been there! My supervisory practice is feminist, anti-racist and LGBTQ+ affirming. As with my therapeutic ethos, I am keen to ensure I am a good fit for any potential supervisees and offer a free call to explore this.As a supervisor I take a collaborative & supportive approach
Your practice is an extension of you, so having a space to develop professionally and personally is vital, to facilitate the growth of your skills, knowledge and competence as well as the culmination of your passions and aspirations as a therapist. My role as a supervisor is to support that process whilst providing a safe and ethical framework within which supervisees can reflect on their practice and explore the impact this may have on them personally. This enables them to show up as authentic and congruent therapists who have capacity for self-compassion and compassion for their clients.
My supervisory approach is integrative & based on the needs of the supervisee and their clients
My core therapeutic approach is IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy), although the degree to which I integrate a parts perspective depends on clients’ resonance with and interest in the approach.
I enjoy bringing the parts model into my supervision, particularly where a supervisee is IFS trained or works in a more parts informed way, but this is always with collaboration and agreed intent.
Please note, I am not currently trained as an IFS consultant so if you are looking for Institute approved IFS consultation, I can offer a couple of recommendations.
After 20+ years of supervising a broad range of therapists and their various caseloads
I am at ease working with experienced therapists or those just starting out on their professional journey, including those setting up in private practice for the first time. I am a member of the NCPS but have been a long term BACP member and work comfortably with therapists who are members of various membership bodies.
I am experienced in providing individual and group supervision and I run monthly supervision groups for neurodivergent therapists working with ND clients. These currently run as a rolling 6 month programme, dates and availability provided on request.
I am experienced working with and supervising a variety of therapeutic issues, modalities and client groups and I welcome requests to support others around the client work and specialisms I have experience with.
These include:
Neurodivergence, in particular
ADHD & AuDHD,
Menopause & HRT,
High Achieving personalities,
Private Practice setup & development,
Fee setting and income reviews,
Running groups and communities,
IFS, eating disorders,
Working with CYP, workshop/events planning
Working privately or sessionally for organisations like the NHS, schools and universities.

Consultation With Chris
From time to time, therapists may want to explore a particular specialism or topic with someone who has experience in that area without looking to move supervisors.
In this case, a consultation session can offer guidance and insights for working with a particular issue, client or presentation. It can also give therapists the opportunity to consider whether to seek specific training and/or CPD around a topic or modality and can help explore the issues of best fit, client referral and counselling community networking for the benefits of their clients and their own professional development.
I am experienced working with and supervising on a variety of therapeutic issues, modalities and client groups and I welcome requests to support others around the client work and specialisms I have experience with.
